MSR Data Loggers offer near endless possibilities. The multitude of measurement parameters combined with highly flexible software and an extraordinary small size offer virtually unlimited potential for application of the MSR Data Loggers. There is hardly any line of business where the attractive MSR Data Loggers cannot be of use. Following a brief extract: |
Transportation: Monitoring of goods of any kind, such as food, precision machinery, chemicals, tobacco, granulate and many more. Typically these require recording of temperature and relative humidity. Barometric pressure can also be easily recorded to learn how goods were affected by the elevation during transport both by land and by air. Additionally, light sensors can be attached giving an indication if and when a container has been opened during transport, helping to identify causes of spoilage or theft for insurance purposes. A 3-axis accelerometer can be used to determine g-forces (e.g. as result of a fall), vibration or even orientation of the cargo (if needed for upright transport or if ship's motion detection is critical). Considerable advantages are gained through extremely large memory offering long recording periods; the small dimensions of the unit enable the discrete (concealed) monitoring of a shipment and availability of a waterproof model allows monitoring of liquids or half-frozen goods. Motorsport/Avionics: Gravitational forces on both the driver or pilot as well as the vehicle are measured. Recorded are temperature and relative humidity of the driver (sweating) in the cockpit, g-forces and vibration or orientation. This allows evaluation of important data used to optimize materials and set-up. Even search and rescue operations by helicopter use data loggers to be able to document transport of the patient has been appropriate. |
Storage: Monitoring of goods of any kind where documenting prescribed storage conditions is required or desired. It makes no difference whether these are pharmaceuticals in a doctor's or pharmacist's cabinet, foodstuffs, precious tobaccos in the walk-in humidor, sensitive machinery, chemicals or other sensitive goods. |
Museum - preventative conservation: Monitoring of temperature and relative humidity of valuable exhibits in museums and exhibitions. Particularly suited if exhibits are to be loaned to other exhibitions and where it is important to measure stress in form of temperature, humidity and movement during the loan period for insurance purposes Aside from exhibits the buildings themselves can be monitored, as often they themselves are of a precious nature. |
Animal husbandry: Guidelines or regulations are typically in force when keeping animals, such as minimum compound area, cage sizes, feed times and many others that have to be followed before one is allowed to refer to it as "species-appropriate". MSR Data Loggers can be used for a number of different studies giving valuable indication on animal behaviour. Mounting a waterproof MSR data logger to a cow's leg for example can indicate behavior patterns during walking, standing, lying down and sleeping periods. A pressure sensor can check chewing behaviour, which is an indicator of well-being and comfort of the animal. Sheep can have their sweat patterns recorded with appropriate data loggers, as again sweat is a measure of the animal's comfort. |
Traffic: Insurance companies install MSR data loggers in vehicles and utilize their shock logging capability to determine the accurate moment of an accident. Recorded acceleration data allow further vital conclusions about driver behaviour. Installed near train tracks or bridges these shock/acceleration loggers provide valuable feedback about vibration, loads, stress frequency and much more. |
Textile Industry: MSR Data Loggers are used to research the behavior of specialty textiles such as used in car or plane passenger seats and protective clothing. Valuable data are gained in relation to temperature and humidity, which amongst others allow conclusions relating to temperature behavior and transport of humidity (sweat) . |
Other Applications: The above listed examples are only a small sample from a multitude of possible applications. There are few requirements for data logger measurement parameters that cannot be fulfilled by using MSR Data Loggers. This is not only true for above applications, but also for many more; the body corporate which collects data for mildew growth as proof of correct or incorrect ventilation; the model plane hobbyist optimizing acrobatics and performance of his aircraft with the data gained; the environmental organization trying to prove the effects of surrounding conditions on plant life; the process engineer who researches the temperature curves of motors and pumps or simply checks and investigates process performance of any kind. |
