The days of the good old thermo-/hygrograph may be numbered!

Replacing pens, papers and expensive repairs, along with dubious accuracy, have made the operation of this type of equipment economically unattractive. Here, electronic monitoring systems are offering a favourable alternative. Aside from the obvious savings in money and time, other reasons should make you think about a change.
Reason #1: Accuracy
Data loggers used in a monitoring system offer far greater accuracy and precision than mechanical chart recorders. There are no critical moving parts such as pointers, pens and paper. Data loggers also avoid the errors associated with chart recorder paper itself. Chart recorder paper limits accuracy because the precision of readings is limited to the chart gradations. Another concern is chart recorder paper shrinkage and expansion. Beyond that only elapsed time is recorded, but not real time. Date and time need to be added manually to the paper chart - yet another source of errors.
Reason #2: Reliability
All chart recorders require regularly scheduled chart replacement, typically weekly. Charts frequently, however, run past the seven days because people forget to change them, rendering all information after this seven day period invalid. Another downside to most chart recorders is their vulnerability to power outages. Ironically, power outages occur at a time when recording devices are most needed - to determine if the room climate was jeopardized by the power outage.
Reason #3: Functionality
Anyone who has ever done a chart analysis knows the pain of manually measuring and transferring multiple points before the analysis can begin if data are spread amongst multiple charts. Use of data loggers makes this so much easier. Software allows the user to go directly to any time period and automatically calculate minimum, maximum, and average values. Printing graphs, reports, or exporting to Excel are also functions that have been found to be very useful when using a monitoring system.
Reason #4: Service / Maintenance
Maintenance is a major factor in making the switch from chart recorders to data loggers. There are ongoing requirements such as cleaning, chart changes, calibration, unscheduled repairs and complex calibration, all of which are unnecessary with a data logger system.
Reason #5: Price
Customers don't generally inquire about data loggers in a quest to save money. All the same, they're very pleased when cost savings turn out to be an unforeseen additional benefit.
Aside from the purchase price, electronic monitoring systems can result in time savings because they do not require chart changes, chart annotation or filing of charts. Time savings can be even more significant when analysis and calculations are required.
How do I check if the required temperature or humidity are maintained on my premises?
Nothing easier than that. The SenseAnywhere monitoring system allows you to keep on top of temperature and humidity measurements on your premises. The system is easy to install and extremely intuitive to use. Keep track of the continuously recorded data at a glance - on site, at home or even while on the road. Configure temperature thresholds and get warned on the PC, by e-mail or SMS if these thresholds are violated - this is the only way to avoid damage before it occurs. On request, the system creates fully automatic reports for documentation and possible submission to authorities.
And the best thing is... ...it doesn’t generate any extra work for you! Position the Sensor Modules where they need to monitor conditions, and after a simple and quick set-up phase, the monitoring system runs completely automatic and reliable - only drawing your attention when you need to step in.
