Correct storage temperatures play a vital role during transportation.
In the pharmaceutical industry, in medicine and biology, the food industry and the chemical industry, keeping temperatures within required limits is an essential aspect of professional quality assurance, just as it is for many industrial processes.
What needs to be monitored during transportation?
In many industries the monitoring of temperature sensitive goods is indispensable.
Perishable foodstuffs such as fruit, vegetables, meat or fish; life-science products such as pharmaceuticals, vaccines, blood deposits, tissues and organs; animal transports, chemical transports and many others - all of these need to have temperature monitored and recorded.
This cold-chain must be monitored and documented continuously, starting with the producer, via distribution centres, ending with the final distributor.
What to look out for?
The challenge in monitoring the cold-chain is the gap-free recording and documenting of temperature, measured directly at the product and ideally in real time.
- Gap-free, to ensure that the goods have not left the required temperature band at any time, for example, while standing on the loading dock for too long during a transfer.
- Documented, since this is the only way to prove that legal requirements, regulations or self-imposed QA guidelines have been complied with.
- Directly at the product, as the general temperature in a refrigerated container or a warehouse is not necessarily identical with the temperature of the goods.
- In real-time, so action can be taken if necessary, even before the goods are spoiled.
How do I check if the required temperature is maintained during transport?
Nothing easier than that. The SenseAnywhere monitoring system allows you to keep on top of the temperatures during transit.
Directly at the goods
Place one or more sensor modules directly with your goods and monitor the cold-chain without gaps throughout the journey. Once the destination has been reached, the temperature data are uploaded automatically, without your active involvement and without opening the goods. In case of critical goods shipments, you can monitor the data in transit via GSM (mobile phone network) and view them in real-time, so you can intervene in the event of problems.
Directly in the cargo hold
Very often, entire delivery trucks, utility vans, refrigerated containers, cooling boxes and many others have to be monitored. Here, it is often necessary to map and to validate the cargo hold, which can be costly and time-consuming.
This process can be greatly simplified by deploying validated and certified SenseAnywhere data loggers at the locations to be monitored. Here too, you can choose whether you want to evaluate the recorded data at the end of the transit period, or in real time during the transport via GSM. In addition, you can also display the current position via GPS.
The system is easy to install and extremely intuitive to use. Keep track of the continuously recorded data at a glance - on site, at home or even while on the road. Configure temperature thresholds and get warned on the PC, by e-mail or SMS if these thresholds are violated - this is the only way to avoid damage before it occurs. On request, the system creates fully automatic reports for documentation and possible submission to inspectors.
And the best thing is... ...it doesn’t generate any extra work for you! Position the Sensor Modules where they need to monitor conditions, and after a simple and quick set-up phase, the monitoring system runs completely automatic and reliable - only drawing your attention when you need to step in.
