Liquid baths with maximum temperature uniformity at "real" -90 °C to +250 °C
Our calibration baths from Kambic are ideal for calibrating temperature probes, temperature transmitters or even complete temperature systems. They allow simultaneous calibration of multiple systems with the added benefit of being able to accommodate probes of all shapes and sizes. Exceptional temperature stability and precise temperature distribution across the entire bath volume ensure that sensors and reference probes always measure a uniform temperature.
Homogenität und Stabilität im mK Bereich
The range of Kambic liquid temperature calibration baths we offer are calibrators with a highly stable temperature control system and a unique temperature uniformity of better than ±0.007 °C across the entire used part of the tank. Depending on the temperature range, Kambic calibration baths are equipped with different cooling systems: These range from simple tap water cooling to integrated refrigeration compressors and even multi-stage cascade compressors for models with extremely low temperatures. The calibration baths are available as laboratory versions, baths with deep tanks and micro calibration baths.

What is a calibration bath?
A calibration bath is a machine equipped with a tank (bath), which allows a liquid to be kept at a precise specified temperature, using a combination of heating, cooling and circulation systems. Temperature sensors, probes and transmitters are calibrated in this liquid by comparison with a known temperature reference.
Here, the preset temperature should ideally match the actual temperature of the bath liquid. Even more important, however, is the stability of the temperature over time and the homogeneity of the temperature across the entire bath volume.
Compared to calibration in air, the advantage of the calibration bath is a much faster heat transfer via the fluid. In addition, more precise temperature control is possible. Calibration baths can offer stability and homogeneity of up to ±5 mK at temperatures ranging between -100 °C and +300 °C. This makes then the perfect equipment for the calibration of high-precision temperature probes, especially those of a more irregular shape that cannot be calibrated in block calibrators.
Common sizes for calibration bath tanks range from 1 to 60 liters. Bath fluids typically consist of special, temperature-stable silicone oil, particularly in high-temperature applications. High-purity alcohol is used in the ultra-low temperature ranges.
Selection criteria for a temperature calibrator
If you need to calibrate industrial temperature probes such as RTDs, thermocouples, thermistors, bimetallic thermometers, or glass thermometers, you need a reliable temperature source to verify accuracy. For calibration applications demanding the highest-quality, a fluid-based calibration bath offers a superior combination of stability, uniformity and value for money.
Typical temperature block calibrators offer stability of around ±0.5 °C over a temperature range of -25 °C to 650 °C. The temperature uniformity between the individual wells, which is important for the comparison of sensors, typically sits at around ±0.05 °C. These uncertainties match the measurement uncertainties achieved by industrial temperature sensors well.
If you need an extended temperature range, highest stability and greater precision, calibration baths are the better choice. Compared to most temperature block calibrators, the Kambic calibration baths excel by having much better temperature stability of up to ±1 mK over a temperature range of -90 °C to +250 °C. The temperature uniformity of a liquid bath, which is a very important characteristic for the comparison of probes, is ±7 mK.
When selecting calibrators for your industrial sensors and probes, you should consider the following criteria:
• temperature range
• accuracy and stability
• flexibility of use and immersion depth of the probe
• portability
• throughput
