Multi-channel thermometer system with 12 channels
The T12 is a high-precision and stable platinum resistance thermometer (PRT) based on a multi-channel temperature measurement system. With a specially developed high-quality measurement circuit, 24-bit analog-to-digital converters and multiplexor sampling, the T12 provides 12 channels of temperature data with low uncertainty for validation and calibration procedures.

Typical applications of the temperature measurement system
The ideal application for the T12 is the validation of temperature uniformity in climate chambers and humidity generators. In combination with dew point measurement data from an MBW dew point mirror, the T12 can also be used to determine relative humidity uniformity directly in the MBW Gecko R2 software. This means that development, validation and calibration engineers can directly assess performance and observe the effects of changes to system settings.

Features of the MBW T12 resistance thermometer
With one of two selectable current levels, the T12 repeatedly scans all 12 channels. By utilizing a fully reversing current source, the T12 eliminates polarity sensitive errors normally associated with DC measurement techniques. Accuracy is further enhanced by referencing all measurements to highly stable internal reference resistors.There are two versions of the multi-channel thermometer, the T12 and the T12-E. The T12 is the version with the highest specifications and configurations available for Pt-25, Pt-100. The T12-E is an entry level version with 1 to 380 Ω range for Pt-100 compatibility with a lower accuracy specification.
The included software allows each channel to be individually programmed with ITS-90 or Callendar-Van Dusen coefficients for direct conversion of resistance measurements to temperature. The T12 is connected to a PC via the RS-232 interface.
Internal reference resistors
Two high-precision, highly stable internal reference resistors are used to compensate the measurements against drift. During each sampling sequence, the T12 measures a high and low range reference resistor to define the measurement range and accurately determine the unknown values of each of the 12 channels. The result of this specific reference resistance measurement technique is a significant reduction in overall uncertainty.
Fast sampling rates
For applications where fast sampling rates are required, the T12 is the ideal choice. The system can be configured to sample all 12 channels in less than five seconds. If required, faster sampling of individual input channels can be programmed.
Selection of probes
The T12 is equipped with 5-pin Lemo sockets for the shielded connection of proprietary 4-wire, 100 Ω, PRT probes. MBW also supplies probes in a variety of types, sizes and specifications with pre-assembled connectors ready for immediate use.
Intelligent MBW probes (Smart Probes)
Smart probes with a memory chip in the connector are automatically recognized and can be read and configured by the system. This enables the storage of all probe parameters such as calibration coefficients, date and validity, certificate reference and much more.
Intelligent data acquisition
The T12 is supplied with the free Gecko software. This is used to configure, display and log the T12 measurement data. As soon as the PRTs are connected to the device, the measured values are displayed and the measurement data is automatically saved with time and date stamps. The Gecko software offers extended functionality for simultaneous reading of additional instruments such as dew point mirrors, humidity generators or other instruments. The channel selection and the data storage interval are freely selectable. The data is automatically written to separate device-specific files and to a combined file.
